Sharad Kumar Chauhan, better known as Sharad Chauhan, is a well-known political figure from India affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Sharad Chauhan was born on 29 June 1975 in Narela, Delhi, to Zile Singh and Vidhya Devi. He is extremely close to his two older brothers:
- Akhil Chauhan, who is an engineer and District Manager at TPDDL in Rohini.
- Vikas Chauhan, who is a doctor and owns a hospital in Mumbai.
He is married to Reeta Chauhan, who is a devoted Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) councillor and homemaker. They have two sons named Abhinav and Archit. Chauhan lives in Bakoli village, where he carries on with his life as a farmer and social worker, as mentioned on the AAP party website.

Early Political Start
Chauhan started his political career with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). He was elected in the 2007 MCD elections from Ward 4, Bakhtawarpur, with 6,593 votes. His wife later followed suit, winning the same seat in 2012 with 15,975 votes when it was reserved for women.
Chauhan lost the 2008 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections to Jaswant Singh (INC) by a margin of only 800 votes, even though he had a strong following in the Narela constituency.
Shift to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)
Before the 2015 Delhi Assembly polls, Sharad Chauhan had defected to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The decision turned out to be game-changing as he fought from Narela and won by a landslide with 96,143 votes, trouncing BJP’s Neel Daman Khatri by 40,292 votes.
Chauhan continued to hold the seat in Delhi Assembly elections held in 2020, although his winning margin decreased. However, In 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, he received 78619 voted but lost due to the difference of 8596 votes.
